I used MyCheckFree for many years until last month. I got a notice that my Home Depot bill was due for $31.57, I set it up to be paid May 2. On that day MyCheckFree sent a check to Home Depot (Citibank) for $3,157.00, cleaned out my bank account and put me in overdraft. I went online and verified I only requested $31.57. I contacted their online support and was told they had no recourse since the funds went through. It is now 20 days later and I still cannot get Citibank to give me a refund. I have called them every other day the last two weeks and every time get a different person and different story. One employee told me they had a lot of similar complaints about MyCheckFree which is why my refund was being delayed. Though this was a MyCheckFree error, Citibank has been terrible to deal with so I’ll never do business with either company again if I can help it. I am still paying interest on my overdraft charge until I get my refund and there has been no response since from MyCheckFree, as it would be fair for them to compensate me, which I know they won't. They don't make much from the transactions, so they don’t need to care if something goes wrong. Run away!

I am quiting my E-mail Paying with MyCheckFree. They failed to notify me that a payment was due 2 times and then the bill went unpaid since I did not know when to pay./ I pay all my bills online and have never had any problems except with MyCheckFree.

On April 24, 2008, I can't connect to them when the bills need to be paid
They were a great service until this month and I viewed the other complaints
for last month. Hard to unwind for them as they have to phone number to call.

I've used mycheckfree for several years and have been quite pleased. There are some bills I can't pay through them-but most I can.
HOWEVER, today I am extremely frustrated because they haven't been on line for several days and it is time to pay bills. NO WAY to reach them to even find out what I can expect. IF THEY'RE NOT BACK ONLINE BY THE END OF THE DAY--I'M DONE WITH THEM. I CAN'T TAKE A CHANCE AND END UP WITH LATE PAYMENTS!!!!

Dont know if its dell or checkfree, but I have spent 3 days and at least 2 hours on the phone trying to get this account set up I really dont think its worth the problems if it doesnt work better than it can be set up I dont need it.

I have used MyCheckFree for several years. Service has been great until now. They have made payment before the requested date, thus causing funds not to be available. Two days early is not acceptable, and you cannot reach them by phone. Time to reconsider!

I have used MyCheckFree.com for many years and although they are prompt in paying on the bills I can find on their site, I can't get copies of items that I need of past payments records.

I needed to get this information to close on a re-finance and it was like pulling teeth!!!

Basically NEVER got the information like they said. All I was asking for was for them to email it to me. There was no cost in that.

Service is great when it works, but forget reaching them by phone when it is not online. That is where I am at this moment. They are literally unreachable, no phone number and not online. (Wed 1/30/2008 @ 9:57am EST)

I have been using mycheckfree for several years and I think it is great it saves time and postage. You can set up your payments in advance and not have to worry about paying something late.

I have told my family members about the site as well.

MyCheckfree.com is a service where they pay bills electronically on your behalf.

It's very simple, really. You register at the site, providing your banking information. They guarantee security using SSL. You then select a payee from their list of hundreds. Once you enter the account number information, they handle the registration with the biller.

Then, when a bill arrives, they email the notice. Using myself as an example, I log in to the service. I select the bill, enter the amount to be paid, they date to be paid and it gets done. Usually, payments post to the vendor within a day of being sent, and the guaranteed payment day is shown when you set up the payment. The amount is charged to my bank account, with a description of the transaction. They guarantee payments will be received by the vendor on time.

They have the ability to file for you a bill instead (choose not to pay, usually if paid elsewhere) and to display past history.

My experience with them is that their dates and payments are dependable.

Good points of the service
Capturing the bills is what's most important to me. I have a lot of bills and some weren't getting paid once in a while because I would forget about them. This is why I selected bill payment services several years ago, and Mycheckfree in particular. They have done a great job with capturing and paying bills.

When I was first dealing with services 5 or 6 years ago, I used Paytrust and nearly had my gas turned off because Paytrust changed their address for receiving vendor bills by mail. Even then, Mycheckfree was able to obtain the bills electronically for the vendors they have.

Reliable and fast payments Over the past few years, the time for a payment to arrive has decline to 1 day for the vendors on the service I use.

It's free, and not only that, the amount of saved postage can add up.

That having been said, I'm not using them much, and, while I plan to keep using them, I don't intend to use them for much more than what I'm doing.

What I dislike about the service
Chase, my current banker, has a great, free bill pay service That's really the biggest reason. Sure, Chase's float period is 2 (a few) to 5 days on non-Chase payees, but they will let me pay any vendor with a US address. They have very solid capabilities (actually BETTER than Bank One, who they acquired) for recurring payments and, like bill payment for many banks, it's free.

More vendors are allowing automatic payment I'm now doing it with all my utilities. I'm going to pay them anyway, and it's much easier. So, I really don't need notification on most vendors.

MyCheckFree has relatively few vendors The one vendor I could use notification on is US Cellular, my cell phone vendor. It's not an available vendor. A US Cellular person told me that they considered Mycheckfree, but the discount(processing) fee was too much.

They do have Citibank, so I'm paying my 5% rebate card through them. I still have my NICOR (natural gas) bill visible, even though I am paying that through direct charge to my Chase account.

Lastly, and it's minor,

the payment defaults to the minimum Maybe that's not a problem for people making minimum credit card payments, but I pay my credit card bills in full every month. If you cannot, then you should rethink your spending practices. Once in a while, in a hurry, I've set up the minimum payment, instead of the full payment I want. I've caught it, and now I'm wise to it, but it's a minor annoyance.

So, on balance, they are what they are. They do a good job of reporting bills, and they pay them quickly and reliably. The problem is, they don't have enough vendors to be a one-stop bill payment source. You should check with your bank to see if their bill payment service meets your needs. Use Mycheckfree.com for those vendors they have whose bills change, and your main payment service for the rest.

Thanks for reading. God bless!

I originally signed up for MyCheckFree as a way to pay my old navy card bill. I don’t do very well with mailing out paper bills in time, so I liked having the flexibility to pay my bill online. A great part of MyCheckFree is than in addition to paying my credit card bill online for old navy, I receive a electronic version of my bill each month through my email.
I can easily pay my bill through clicking a few buttons on the site, and I know that my payment will get there without worrying that it will get lost somewhere in the mail or get delayed somehow.
I can also put in information for my other bills and pay them through the site. The flexibility to pay bills in this way is great. Soon I won't even need to buy stamps at the post office!
