Online Bill Pay Provider Reviews
There are lots of options when it comes to choosing an online bill pay service provider. However, one thing we can say with certainty is that not all online bill pay systems are created alike. Most banks (at least the large ones) provide online bill pay for free because research has shown that banking customers who use online bill pay don't switch banks very often, and they tend to buy more banking services than do customers who don't use online bill pay. Inside the corporate offices of the banks, they refer to online bill pay as being a "sticky application". "Sticky" in terms of meaning that it helps them keep their online bill pay users as long term bank customers.
Why would you care about that? Well...if the research about online bill pay is accurate, then it means is that once you get used to using an online bill pay service, and have gone to the trouble to setup all of your bill payment payees on the bill pay system, it's not very likely that you are going to be compelled to switch banks without giving some serious thought to the implications of having to learn how to use a different online bill pay system. Plus, switching from one bill pay service to different bill pay service causes you to lose access to your online bill pay history.
It's likely that once you take the plunge into paying your bills with an online bill pay service, you'll be using it for quite awhile. So, choose your bill pay service wisely and with thoughtful consideration regarding features offered and overall ease of use. Look for service providers that provide the ability to pay not only major billers like AT&T, Verizon, Allstate, and American Express, but also more regional billers like Comcast, Time Warner, and your local utility companies.
Consider also whether it's important to you to be able to receive e-bills from your online bill pay service provider. More and more consumers are finding value in receiving their bills electronically, but not all online bill pay services offer this capability.
